Dr. Ma is currently a doctor in the Department of Ophthalmology of the Tangdu Hospital of the Fourth Military Medical University in China. She has research interests in pathogenesis and prevention of cataract. During her Graduate period, she has received systematic scientific research training and finished projects “The role of advanced glycation end-products and its receptor (RAGE) in diabetic cataract” and “Observation of lens epithelial cells cultured with different oxygen tension”. As a joint training of Ph.D. candidate, she has been to the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences of Washington University in St. Louis in USA during 2013-2015. During the two year study she has obtained some key techniques including micro laser-dissection, in situ hybridization and ocular tissue anatomy, et al. Moreover, she has finished a research project “Ascorbic acid metabolism and its transporters in eyes”. In this study she investigated the level of ascorbic acid and its transporter expression in different ocular tissues of human and other animals. By comparing human and mouse, she had some fundamental findings on the expression profiling of ascorbic acid related transporters in human and mouse eyes.
