Dr Yuyi You is a clinician-scientist based at the Department of Clinical Medicine, Macquarie University. He received his medical degree (2006) and residency training in ophthalmology from Shanghai Medical College (Fudan University, China) and his PhD in ophthalmology (2013) from Macquarie University. After 5 years working at the University of Sydney as a National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Fellowship awardee, Dr You recently (2020) returned to Macquarie University with a research grant funded by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (USA).
Dr You’s research interest has been focused on ophthalmic neuroscience, investigating mechanisms of neurodegeneration in the visual pathways in optic neuropathies including glaucoma and optic neuritis. He has authored over 60 peer-reviewed publications and 3 book chapters. Dr You publishes his results consistently in high-ranking journals in his research field such as Brain, IOVS, Ophthalmology, Neurology and Molecular Therapy. Dr You has organised and chaired consecutive sessions at ARVO 2018 and 2019 annual meetings discussing interrelationships between eye and brain disorders.
