Department of Ophthalmology, School of Medicine, University of California, San Francisco, San Francisco, CA, USA
I am Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at University of California San Francisco (UCSF). I have received ophthalmology residency and glaucoma fellowship at UCSF, and then stayed on as faculty. In addition to clinical work in glaucoma diagnosis, medical and surgical treatment, I am an active clinical researcher over 10 years of experience. I’m a member of AGS and AAO and serve resident performance committee at UCSF. I have received NIH R21 grant and several local grants to support my research. I’m director of glaucoma service at San Francisco Veterans Affair Medical Center.
My areas of interest are glaucoma laser, tube-shunt surgery, glaucoma surgical device design, and glaucoma surgical clinic trials. I am current principal investigator on two clinical trials at UCSF, the Efficacy and Safety of Bimatoprost Sustained-Release (SR) in Patients With Open-angle Glaucoma or Ocular Hypertension trial and the Ahmed with Mitomycin C Comparison trial. I am also interested in glaucoma device design. With collaborating with Dr. Chong Xie from University of Texas, Austin, we propose a novel concept of a glaucoma surgical device comprised of a microfluidic meshwork and a drainage tube. This new design is patented and under animal testing.
