Haoyu Chen is a physician-scientist working at Joint Shantou International Eye Center, Shantou University & the Chinese University of Hong Kong, China. As a physician, Dr. Chen performs more than 2000 operations and 5000 outpatient consultations annually. His subspecialty is retina and ocular trauma. As a scientist, he is very active in both clinical ophthalmology and vision sciences. He has published 168 original articles, 9 reviews, and 15 book chapters. His H-index is 30 (Web of Science). 

Dr. Chen also served as an associate editor for BMC Ophthalmology and editorial board member for International Ophthalmology. He received the Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology Achievement Award in 2016, the Outstanding Ophthalmologist Award of the Chinese Ophthalmologist Association in 2018, Publons Peer Review Awards in 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019.
