Dr. Greiner is a cornea and external disease specialist, and research scientist. His clinical expertise is in the area of ocular surface diseases. Dr. Greiner focuses on the development of novel treatments for conditions that compromise the integrity of the integument including the skin and ocular surfaces.
Dr. Greiner has authored nearly 200 publications and 5 US patents. He has presented over 200 papers at national and international scientific assemblies.
Dr. Greiner’s clinical practice includes a patient population that has served as the foundation upon which his extensive experience in conducting FDA clinical trials has been acquired. He has served as an investigator or the principal investigator on over 170 clinical trials.
He is one of the co-founders of Ocular Research of Boston (ORB), an ophthalmic products firm. He authored the company’s first patent and has served as a member of ORB’s governing board for nearly 30 years.
Dr. Greiner has an exceptional understanding of the dynamic system of checks and balances that function to maintain healthy body surface tissues. He has successfully employed this understanding to develop effective therapies for pathological conditions involving these tissues. His research continues to shed light on the diverse clinical presentations of body surface disease(s) of the eye and skin, cataractogenesis, and corneal preservation. He has been instrumental in the formulation of optimized therapeutic interventions available to patients world-wide.
