Dr. Yuan now is a PhD supervisor, Visiting Scholar to Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, Miami, USA, Deputy Director of Guangdong Provincial Ophthalmic Engineering Research Center, Deputy Director of Guangdong Provincial Ophthalmology and Visual Science Institute, Secretary-General of Guangdong Eye Care Development Group for Township Hospitals, Founding Member of Asian Association of Dry Eye, Member of Chinese Association of Dry Eye, Member of Guangdong Digital Medicine Branch of Chinese Medical Association, Deputy Chairman of Youth Committee of Guangdong Eye Doctor Association, Reviewer of National Natural Science Fund, Reviewer of National Science & Technology Development Award, Training Expert of CMD Program of Chinese Medical Doctor Association, Expert of Guangzhou Medical Malpractice Committee. He also serves as associate editor of Eye Science, Member of Editorial Board of Journal of Ophthalmology, Member of Editorial Board of Chinese Journal of Experimental Ophthalmology, Reviewer of Plos One, Review of Molecular Vision, Review of Chinese Journal of Ophthalmology. He is the director of Ciai Corneal Blindness Foundation. He received Young Scientist Award of The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the Ministry of Science and Technology of China in 2015.

Dr. Yuan has been working in corneal and ocular surface diseases, research and education for more than 10 years, expertized in corneal transplantation, ocular surface rebuilt, corneal immunology, innovative imaging technology of ophthalmology. He has got 3 national natural science funding, 8 provincial scientific research funding. He has authored more than 50 papers published in journals like ACS Nano, JCB, Plos One, Acta Ophthalmology, etc. He has been invited to give scientific reports in WOC, APAO, ARVO, Asian-ARVO, ADES, etc.
